Residents Cry Out After Kidn@ppers K+ll Man Despite Ransom Payment, After Abd¥cting Him With His Wife and Child in Delta State

Residents of Oghara Kingdom in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State are gripped by fear following a series of d+adly k+dnappings in which victims were reportedly k+lled even after ransom payments.

According to reports , one of the victims was abd¥cted alongside his wife by k+dnappers. While the woman later managed to escape captivity, her husband was allegedly k+lled despite the payment of ransom.

In a separate atta, suspected k+dnappers reportedly k+lled a farmer, Vincent Adojor, and abd¥cted his wife and child after ambushing the family while they were working on their farm around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026.

The Oghara Study Group (OSG), a civil advocacy organisation, confirmed the incidents during a press conference in Warri on Thursday, July 2.

Speaking on behalf of the group, co-conveners Rev. David Ugolor and Prof. Ogheneruonah Eghweree decried the worsening security situation in Oghara, citing a growing wave of k+dnappings, armed att@cks and k+llings.

“Victims are increasingly being m¥rdered even after ransom payments while p++r families are left helpless and devastated,” the group said.

According to the OSG, residents now live in constant fear as k+dnappers, armed gangs and cult groups continue to attack communities, farms and major roads with little resistance.

The group noted that the recent abd¥ction of a husband and wife has further heightened anxiety in the area, prompting renewed calls on the Federal Government, Delta State Government and the Ethiope West Local Government Council to urgently tackle the worsening insecurity.

“The increasing insecurity has turned life into a nightmare for many families, particularly the poor and less privileged who are unable to raise the huge ransom payments demanded by k+dnappers.

“In several cases, victims were k+lled before any rescue could be carried out, while others were m¥rdered even after ransom had been paid, leaving families to mourn their loved ones and suffer severe financial hardship,” the group added.
