“Nobody Will Cause Problems Between Us” — Datti Reaffirms Absolute Loyalty to Peter Obi

Amid evolving strategies and restructuring within Nigeria’s opposition forces, former Labour Party running mate Datti Baba-Ahmed has moved to silence critics predicting a fallout within the ‘Obidient’ leadership. By explicitly stating that his relationship with Peter Obi remains bulletproof against political saboteurs, Datti’s latest statement serves to project absolute unity and stability to the party’s base as political maneuvers intensify across the country.

Baba-Ahmed made this statement on Sunday during an interview on ‘Inside Source’ with Laolu Akande, a programme on Channels Television.

He was speaking on the speculation that he has fallen out with the former Anambra state governor.

“Let me say that nobody will cause a problem between me and my boss, Peter Obi.

“He can be in any party today. I still have respect for him as someone who governed Anambra State, as someone who doesn’t give the ‘shi-shi’, and we have mutual respect for each other, so nobody will come between us,” he said.

Recall that he was the running mate to Peter Obi, who was the presidential candidate of Labour Party in 2023.

However, ahead of the 2027 general elections, the duo parted ways to different political parties.

While he left for the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, Peter Obi defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, and he is the party’s presidential candidate ahead of next year’s general elections.
