"Don't Be a Financial Burden" — Bishop Adejumo Advises Women to Build Personal Income

In a strong push for female financial empowerment, prominent cleric Bishop Funke Adejumo has challenged conventional expectations surrounding marital roles and spousal support. Arguing that total financial reliance puts an unfair burden on men and stifles a woman’s potential, Adejumo urged wives to actively pursue economic productivity rather than treating a husband as an all-encompassing financial safety net.

Speaking at the “Women of Greater Height” programme organised by the RCCG Everlasting Covenant Zone, FCT 11, the renowned preacher said women were created for more than childbearing and should strive to make meaningful contributions to society.

She encouraged women to deepen their relationship with God, discover and develop their talents, acquire skills, create passive income streams, invest wisely and build healthy relationships.

According to her, humility, gratitude and a willingness to accept correction are essential qualities for women seeking greatness in life.

“Like yourself and invest in yourself. If the totality of your spending is based on your husband, you are a waste. Don’t let your life be based on S+xually Transmitted Money (STM),” she said.

Felix-Adejumo also advised women not to allow anyone diminish their worth, stressing that they should believe in themselves and celebrate their achievements.

She further cautioned against engaging in immoral relationships for financial gain, urging women to maintain their dignity and remain committed to God.

“Love the Lord, serve the Lord and be passionate about God. You can’t be sleeping around with men to have money. Keep your dignity and don’t let anybody mess you up, but firmly believe in yourself.”
