Accord LG Chairman Sh%t by Suspected G¥nmen in Osun, Police Launch Investigation

The Chairman of the Accord Party in Osogbo Local Government Area of Osun State, Asimiyu Ajibola, popularly known as Baba Isila, was sh%t by suspected g¥nmen on Wednesday night in Osogbo.

The atta@ck occurred around 9:50 p.m. near the MDS area of the state capital, causing panic among residents as g¥nshots were heard in the neighbourhood.

According to eyewitnesses, the assa+lants trailed a blue Toyota Corolla carrying Ajibola and others before opening fire on the vehicle in what appeared to be a targeted att@ck.

The occupants reportedly escaped and sought refuge at the Dugbe Divisional Police Headquarters before the att@ckers fled the scene.

Ajibola sustained inj¥ries and was taken to the University of Osun Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, where he is receiving treatment.

Reacting to the incident, the Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, condemned the att@ck and called for a thorough investigation to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

The Osun State Police Command confirmed on Thursday that it had commenced an investigation into the sh%%ting.

Police spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said officers responded to a distress call, evacuated the victim for medical treatment and deployed tactical teams to track down the suspects.

According to the police, Ajibola is in stable condition and responding positively to treatment, while evidence recovered from the scene is being subjected to forensic analysis.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, has ordered a full-scale investigation and directed officers to identify, arrest and prosecute those responsible for the att@ck.
