Mirabel Rape Claim: Ogun Govt Concludes Probe, Recommends Rehabilitation Over Prosecution

The Ogun State Government has provided fresh details on the controversial r@pe allegation involving Miss Nsikak Abigael Emem, popularly known as Mirabel, revealing that investigations found no evidence that the alleged incident ever occurred.

In a statement issued by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade (SAN), the government said extensive investigations conducted by relevant authorities concluded that Mirabel’s r@pe claim was false and deliberately fabricated.

According to the Ministry of Justice, findings from the investigation, including admissions reportedly made by Mirabel herself, established that the allegation was untrue. The government stated that because no r@pe occurred, there was no offender to arrest, prosecute, or pose any threat to public safety.

Despite determining that the allegation was fabricated, the Ogun State Government decided not to prosecute Mirabel. Instead, authorities opted for a rehabilitation approach after reviewing the circumstances surrounding the case.

The Ministry explained that pursuing psycho-social rehabilitation was considered more appropriate and in the interest of justice than criminal prosecution. As part of this intervention, Mirabel has been placed under the care of the Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, where she is currently receiving support and counseling.

The government further disclosed that it has continued to monitor her progress through periodic reports and noted that she is responding positively to the rehabilitation programme. According to the Ministry, Mirabel is also preparing for examinations as part of efforts to continue her education and rebuild her future.
