I do need some assistance to get things working again. I ran the suggested fixes several times over the last two weeks, and can now say that Windows 10 seems to be working as expected. I have a new problem or one I’ve discovered more recently. The menu which normally shows up in Explorer at the bottom of the PDF document is not present in Edge, and neither is the menu at the top of the Edge page.

Still don’t know how to fix the action center, but Microsoft has some smart people on staff so I’m sure they’ll figure this out shortly, perhaps the next update!

I have run The SFC about 4 times rebooted the computer and no change. I can’t open the Settings menu at all. Please help. I downloaded Advanced SystemCare. They have a tool called Smart Defrag. In there is a process you can run to “optimize apps” and it runs and looks like a defrag screen.

I have no idea what it actually does, but this resolved my issue when these other methods either wouldn’t work or had errors of their own. I’ve been having the same issue, both the notification center and the start icon tiles are non functional. Right clicking the notification icon and selecting “open action center” does nothing, also Edge disappeared and was no longer located on my computer search couldn’t find it.

I’ve been using MS10 for more than 6 months and this issue just began about a month ago. Details required : characters remaining Cancel Submit 5 people found this reply helpful. User’s post on August 24, I’m having the same problem – and neither of those commands reported any errors. The instructions for finding the ‘source’ files and the lack of instructions on interpreting the 2. I did this, took a while, but it worked and everything is now functioning as it should. I saw a “Recovery” option on Windows 10, but it said if you use it, you will loose all of your apps and they would have to be reinstalled.

It was less painful to reinstall Windows. There should be a better way to make repairs to corrupt files. If you’re using a touchscreen, you can also open the Action Center by sliding your finger in from the right side of your screen. You can also click the Action Center icon to close it. Or, if you’re using a touchscreen device, tap anywhere outside the Action Center to close it. The Action Center icon will light up when you have a new notification.

You’ll also see a number indicating how many notifications are available for review. If you’re not interested in opening a notification, you can dismiss it without opening and viewing it.

At the bottom of the Action Center, there is a grid full of buttons, called Quick Actions, or Actions. These quick toggles let you do a lot with just a few clicks. Some actions open a settings screen; others will simply toggle a function on or off. Actions in use appear highlighted. Unavailable actions appear grayed out.

For example, when your computer is plugged in, Battery Saver will be grayed out. This table lists common actions that appear in the Action Center. Your Action Center may contain different actions based on your computer’s configuration. Action Description Airplane Mode.

Open the Settings app Battery Saver. Turn on battery-saving features, which will cause performance issues. Manage your Bluetooth-enabled devices. Adjust your screen’s display brightness. Connect to a Bluetooth-enabled device. Toggle your Location Services on and off.

View your computer’s current network connections. Search for nearby wireless networks.
